The Mishpacha club’s main goal is to foster and promote Jewish heritage and culture, to inaugurate a spirit of cooperation and helpfulness amongst the Jewish population, to create a better understanding among our Jewish student body, to encourage vigorous participation in Jewish activity both on campus and in our community, to ensure a safe environment where Jews might be Jews, without necessarily having a religious focus, all while remaining an organization independent from all other Jewish or secular clubs and groups.
Mishpacha hosted a Battle of the Bands concert with the Claremont Colleges Against Cancer Club. We raised money to help construct a new pediatric brain cancer ward at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.
Mishpacha also worked closely with Hillel to put on Mishpachannukah, a non-denominational celebration for Jews and non-Jews to enjoy the music, foods, and traditions of Hannukah.
Mishpacha is coordinating the upcoming MegaShabbat, an event conducted with the help of Chabad, Hillel, Challah for Hunger, and other Jewish organizations across the 5C’s. This event will be one of the biggest Jewish events of the year for the Claremont Colleges, and it will be a Shabbat celebration welcoming religious leaders, students, and faculty of all religions, beliefs, and denominations.
