Model United Nations

CMC MUN is a nationally-ranked Model United Nations team that represents Claremont McKenna College on a national and international stage. Model United Nations is a form of debate that allows students to debate pertinent world issues with delegates from all over the world. Students are typically either assigned specific countries or world leaders to represent, and are tasked with writing some form of substantive material to come up with a comprehensive, multi-faceted solution. Debate is guided by a complex set of rules that delegates must understand and maneuver to work in their favor. The team competes at conferences that take place in cities such as Los Angeles, Boston, and Rome. CMC MUN has won World MUN for the past two years in a row, taking home the Best Small Delegation award. Tryouts take place every fall for the domestic travel team, while a separate tryout is held for students interested to travel internationally. The team also hosts a conference called McKenna MUN each April that brings over 500 high school students to campus. Applications to help with McKenna MUN will be solicited in the fall and spring semesters.
